For those of you who don't know, four times a year one of the three rooms in my little emporium is given over to a local/upcoming artist to showcase their talent. I am hugely excited to announce that my artist for April is Anna Matyus, who has produced a fabulously vibrant exhibition of abstract prints inspired by the often overlooked architectural features of some of North Yorkshire's most famous heritage buildings.
She says: “I think what strikes me most when I visit heritage buildings around North Yorkshire is not only the immense beauty and craftsmanship of the architecture of these sites but also the tranquillity of their location. As St Aelred is said to have written of Rievaulx Abbey 'everywhere peace, everywhere serenity, and a marvellous freedom from the tumult of the world'”.
Anna's exhibition Everywhere Serenity runs from 1st - 27th April at Rickshaw, and her work will be available online from the beginning of the exhibition. Don't miss it!
