In her debut exhibition, Jess Miller combines her two passions - science and art - to create a collection which celebrates movement and colour. Whilst studying a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at York College, she has found ways to use her scientific background to assist her artistic process. Combining her paints with various conditioners and oils to alter their physical properties, she has developed a way to make colour move on the canvas.
The result is collection of vibrant abstract "acrylic pours" which challenge the viewer's sense of perspective: whether viewed through a sweeping lens akin to aerial photography, or the slide of a microscope is entirely up to the beholder. A bold and interesting debut which should not be missed.
